Prolific Prep holds off Riviera Prep in OT: Live score updates: MAIT Boys Basketball
MONTVERDE, FLORIDA – Prolific Prep (California), the No. 4 team in the latest SBLive/Sports Illustrated Boys Basketball Power 25 national rankings, blew a 20-point second half lead and trailed twice to Riviera Prep (Florida) in overtime, but held on for a 76-74 overtime victory, Thursday, in the opening round of the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament (MAIT).
The Crew survived a last ditch three-point by Riviera Prep as the clock expired.
Winters Grady paced Prolific Prep with a 23-point performance, while AJ Dybantsa netted 18. Tyran Stokes and Aiden Sherrell also scored in double-digits, combining for 26.
Dante Allen, who hit a trio of three-pointer, led Riviera Prep with 23 points and Myles Fuentes added 21. In addition, Gustavo Guimaraes Alves and Mason Fuentes combined for 24 points.
Prolific Prep led 39-26 at the half and opened up a 20-point lead in the third quarter, before Riviera Prep stormed back in the fourth. The score was tied three times and the lead changed hands four times.
The tournament features three national ranked teams, including No. 1 Montverde and No. 11 Brewster Academy (New Hampshire) and six McDonald's All-Americans.

- A nice reverse layup by Dante Allen adds two for Riviera. Prolific leads by 13.
- Fuentes drops one in form eight feet. and his brother Mason drains a three. The Bulldogs gaining a little momentum with 3:25 left in the quarter.

- Prolific Prep endured a five-hour delay for its flight east on Wednesday and that may be playing a role in their cold shooting start. However, the Crew is relying on its superior athleticism.
- The winner of this game will play New Hampshire's Brewster Academy in the semifinals on Friday evening. Brewster pulled away in the second half for a 86-65 win over Calvary Christian (Florida) in the tournament opener.
